First work week completed

Our first week is finished and we have somewhat recuperated.  We work Monday through Thursday from 8 to 4.  This may not seem like much to most of you, but we are all OLD!!!  We enjoy what we do but we work intensely.  The house we are working on was pretty much destroyed.  It would have seemed easier to have leveled it and built new, but the cost would have been much more, so we are doing what we can to get the homeowner back in her home.  Bill installed a new toilet and bathroom door, did some electrical work. I removed some floor tiles. He and I hung sheetrock.  I started mudding the sheetrock.  Other team members removed some rotting flooring and replaced the plywood.  I learned how to remove popcorn ceiling.

This is a depressed area, many homeless here, possibly because of the many hurricanes and they cannot afford to go somewhere else.  The church where we are staying has a meal on Monday night, and about half were homeless.  They eat what they want and take what they want.  No one asks questions.  This is a wonderful ministry that they provide to the community.

Saturday we drove up to Lavaca Bluffs Vineyard and Winery.  This is a small, family-owned company, very quaint.  We did the wine tasting with the souvenier glass, bought a couple of bottles of local wine.  Very pleasant afternoon.

My feet are holding up pretty good.  I have been praying that God would give me endurance and stamina just for the day, just one day at a time.  He always comes through.  It occurred to me that this is the definition of "our daily bread".  Give us this day our daily bread.  It doesn't just mean bread in the literal sense of the word, but "bread" is the sustenance we need just for that day, whether it is stamina, peace, joy, patience or whatever we need.  That's why we pray EVERY day, because we ask for our "daily" bread, our daily sustenance.  Remember this next time you say the Lord's Prayer.
